We are embarking on a new academic session, a time symbolizing fresh beginnings and abundant opportunities. This period coincides with our nation's independence celebration, a moment for reflecting on both our freedoms and responsibilities. This year, as we assess our surroundings, we must heed the urgent call from Mother Earth. The land we tread, the air we inhale, and the water that nurtures us all require our attention.

The theme for this special issue, "Caring for Mother Earth," is profoundly relevant. Our planet is increasingly strained-evident through deforestation, pollution, climate change, and biodiversity loss. These issues are tangible, manifesting as severe weather, dwindling resources, and disrupted ecosystems.

As educators and students, we are uniquely positioned to contribute to environmental stewardship. This new academic session provides an opportunity to embed sustainability into our curriculum and daily practices. Simple actions such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and planting trees can collectively lead to significant impacts.

Our Independence Day reflects on the sacrifices made for our freedom. Now, we face a different challenge-protecting and preserving our environment for future generations. Let us honour this spirit of independence by embracing our responsibility for the planet’s well-being.

In this issue, you’ll discover student-driven stories, essays, and activities that underscore the importance of environmental care. May these contributions inspire action not only for nature but for the well-being of all living beings.

Let us begin this new chapter with renewed dedication, aiming to improve our world, one step at a time.
