My dear teachers,
Happy Teachers’ day! I on behalf of Sr Rose Celine the President of BES and the members of the Council of Management greet you with affection and love. I bring salutations to you from your students as well. I also wish to salute the Founder of Bethany Educational Society RFC Mascarenhas, the Servant of God; if not for him and for his vision of education, there would not have been around 170 Bethany schools all over India. I salute the first four sisters with whom the Bethany Congregation began – all four were teachers. It’s apt that we offer our tribute to them as well.
To be a teacher is not a profession but a calling, a vocation, a mission. Jesus was one of the greatest teachers, yet he did not have a class room, no teaching aids, no technology. He walked around the country side, followed by his disciples. Sometimes, he taught from a mountain side and other times from the steps of a temple, sometimes from a boat and other times from the court yard of someone’s house. Yet no one forgot what he taught to this day. If a teacher becomes the part of student’s life, no student will forget his teacher.
Dear teachers, you who are for a long time teachers now know that what subject you teach is not important but how you make your student feel while he or she is with you is important. You have been doing this and I on behalf of the Management appreciate your commitment, dedication, loyalty, team spirit and passion for excellence. Thank you for your patience, kindness, wisdom, generosity, readiness to walk the second mile. Thank you for your sacrifices and the special talent to bring out the best from your students.
Have a great day amidst your students. Happy teachers’ day again!
