Dec 03: St Theresa School, Bendur – Mangaluru, under the leadership of Sr Mariette the Secretary of Bethany Educational Society organized a meeting for the teachers of all the Schools under BES in the Mangalore City Corporation limits. About 63 teachers participated in it. The topic was “The role of citizens in the corporation wards”. It was conducted by Mrs Rita Noronha, the retired professor of Roshni Nilaya Social work Centre. Sr Vidya BS warmly welcomed the President Sr Lillis, the Vice President of BES, resource person Mrs Rita Noronha and Mr Harsha Gatty, Mr Nigel and Mrs Sandhya, the guests and the gathering. Sr Lillis addressed the teachers saying that the Founder, the Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas started the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany dedicated himself for the upliftment of women and children. She also spoke about the importance of the Constitution day and the Preamble which explains the basic philosophy and principles of our Constitution. She appreciated Mrs Rita Noronha for her committed services to the humanity. Mrs Rita Noronha thanked BES management for the support and the willingness to host ward committee meeting in St Theresa’s ICSE School Bendur. She in her address encouraged the teachers to be active participants and great contributers for the welfare of the society.
Mr Harsha Gatty and Mrs Sandhya brought out to the teachers the number of wards in Mangaluru City and the need for the educated citizens to become active members in these wards. Mr Nigel awakened the teachers on the importance of becoming members of the ward and expressed his gratitude to the ward members who are actively involved in the work of the corporation.
