August 22: It was a red-letter day in the history of India, when the country got its freedom on August 15th 1947. Every Indian celebrates this memorable day with great pomp every year.
Bethany English Medium Higher Primary School celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2023 with great enthusiasm, joy and pomp.
On this special occasion, the programme started with a Prayer song followed by flag hoisting by Rev.Fr. Anil Kiran Fernandes, SVD; Sr. Mariola BS, the correspondent of our school and Deputy Secretary of Bethany Educational Society, Mangalore; Mr. Paul Rolphy D’costa ,Properitor of D’Costa Saw Mill, Hejamady; Mrs. Josna Almeida, the Vice President of PTA and Sr. Rita Sharal the Headmistress were present for the same.
The students of Class 3rd and 6th and KG kids performed a series of brilliant acts such as theme play, dance, song, and other enactments to uplift the sense of human excellence, ‘One-ness and Nationalism’ in all our hearts.
The students also performed tricolour drills with props.
Rev. Fr.Anil Kiran Fernandes, SVD, Mr.Paul Rolphy D’Costa and Sr. Mariola BS addressed the gathering appealing to their nationalistic spirit and urging them to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one’s duty with responsibility. They also emphasized the role of youth today as the true wealth of a country.
Indeed, it was a momentous day, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
The programme was compered by Mrs. Shashikala and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Dayavathi.
