Nov 27:The much awaited Annual Sports Day was held at Bethany English Medium Higher Primary School, Mulki on Tuesday, 21st November 2023, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere.
Rev. Sr. Roshel BS, Assistant Provincial Superior, Bethany Mangalore Province presided over the programme. Mr.Ashok Kumar Shetty, was the chief guest of the day, Rev. Fr. Sylvester D Costa Parish Priest, Immaculate Conception Church Mulki, Sr. Mariola BS, Correspondent of Bethany Pre-Primary and Bethany Eng. Med. Hr. Pry. School and Mrs. Jyothsana Dalmeida, PTA Vice President were the guests of honor.
The Sports Day started with the march past signifying unity, consistency, alertness and teamwork. Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, the chief guest received the salute from the marching teams. A special opening prayer was offered by the students. A cordial welcome was accorded by Headmistress Sr. Rita Sharal.
Rev. Fr. Sylvester D Costa declared the sports meet open by releasing the coloured balloons into the sky, marking the official commencement of the day's athletic events.
The highlight of the event was the arrival of the symbolic flame, representing the light of spirit, knowledge, and life. The torchbearers were outstanding young athletes, who had excelled in various sports disciplines. The Guest of honour, Sr. Mariola BS, received the torch, which was then placed in a prominent spot in the School ground to continue burning throughout the sports meet. The oath was administered by the school sports minister, Mohammed Ameen, reinforcing the values of fair play and sportsmanship.
A spirit filled performance by grade I to VII students, showcased the importance of exercise for a fit body and sound mind.
An amazing speech was given by the president Sr. Roshel BS, in which she congratulated all students for their excellent performance. She urged every student to showcase their talents in sports and excel in it. Her words of wisdom brought out an inspiration to the students as they cheered with acknowledgment.
Ms. Roveena Dsouza compered the inaugural ceremony and Mrs. Shashikala proposed the vote of thanks, marking the end of the formal inaugural program.
The day continued with the students taking part enthusiastically in various field and track events and the winners were recognized with medals and certificates. The annual sports day of the school witnessed a valedictory ceremony compered by Mrs. Savitha.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of the school anthem.
