A days retreat was conducted for the students of VI And VII of St. Antony’s Hr. Pry. School, Ponnampet on the 27th of February 2017. Under the guidance of Sr Tina the Headmistress Fr Paul D’Souza and Fr William Pereira helped the students to explore their self-worth using the theme ‘Face is the mirror of your inner feelings’. The value of self-surrender to the will of God and respect for the elders were stressed upon in the sessions. Every failure is a stepping stone to success and to focus on the heaven as our permanent abode were the other topics that were dealt with.
“Dwelling deep into the ocean for fullness of life” was the theme for the retreat conducted to the teachers of the same school on the 28th of February 2017. Fr. Paul D’Souza and Fr William Pereira were the resource persons. Stressing upon the importance of imparting quality education the resource persons highlighted the following points ‘Education is a process of enlightening the minds, enkindling the soul, energizing the body and enthusing the whole person to bring out the hidden potentials’. Through prayer, activities and games the sessions were made lively and encouraged every teacher to participate actively.
The quote by Karl Rahner who said ‘we are not human beings but we are on our way to become human beings’ enkindled our soul. The idea of focussing on human relations rather than only academics was stressed upon in all sessions. As teachers, it is necessary to update our knowledge and keep ourselves abreast with fast moving world. This retreat indeed provided a food for our thought and motivated us to become better.
