Feb 13: St Vincent’s convent school celebrated the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose the Freedom Fighter of India and the birthday of Mgr. R.F.C Mascarenhas the founder of the congregation of the sisters of Bethany, The crux of the celebration was the spirit of Patriotism and the love of the disadvantaged. On 23rd January 2018 the Management, Staff and the students invited the slum children of the neighbouring rural area who came along with their educators and organized the day very meaningfully. The programme comprised of the lighting of the Diya, a brief prayer, Prayer Dance, by the Oriya Medium children, a role play enacted by the English Medium children, followed by a programme by the Invitees of Slum children of Dhohadi village. The day was spent for these less privileged children, holding variety entertainments, sports and games competitions, the distribution of prizes for the winners and so on. At the end a meal was served. The children relished the meal. They were ever thankful to the principals of both St Vincent’s English and Odiya medium Sisters who organized the entire programme and fulfilled the desire of the Mgr RFC Mascarenhas whose main objective was the uplift of the poor and downtrodden. The nearby area of 30 families which was couldn’t by fire was visited by the sisters and their immediate needs were net.
