Permission to start Standard V was granted on 29 June 1971 even before the sisters arrived at the place. When the construction of the convent building was complete, Mother Macrina sent Sr Louise as Superior, Sr Berchmans and Sr Noella as members, to form a community. They arrived at Kacharkanahalli on 5 July 1971. Fr Ullasappa graciously blessed the convent after the arrival of the sisters. They named the new house ‘Jyothi Nilaya’. Classes were conducted in the residence of the sisters. They visited the neighbourhood with the happy news of starting Jyothi Higher Primary School. Sr Noella was appointed as the headmistress in-charge of the new school.
Sr Victoria joined the community on 1July 1972 and was appointed the headmistress of the school. Standard VI and VII were added in the following years. On 1 June 1973, Sr Juliet joined the staff and began teaching Standard VII. On 16 July 1973, the small community celebrated the Foundation Day of the Congregation. Fr Pius D’sa, the parish priest, blessed and laid the foundation stone for Jyothi Higher Primary School. Sr Agnella, the then General councillor and the Secretary of Bethany educational Society, led the prayer. Sr Theresine, the Regional Superior; Sr Louise, the Superior, the community sisters, the school children and their parents were present. The first batch of Standard VII secured 100% result with first class marks. It was a great achievement to be cherished with joy and gratitude.
