Most Rev. Mathias Fernandes, Bishop of Mysore invited the Bethany sisters to Ponnampet to impart education to the children of the locality.  Mother Gemma, the then Superior General, Mother Macrina, the former Superior General and Sr Verena, the Procurator General accompanied the pioneers, Sr Eliza, Sr Clita ,Sr Prabha, Sr Elize D’Souza and Sr Jessy Leena to Ponnampet on 21^st May 1979.  

The school started functioning on 22^nd May 1979 in the Church building till the school building was ready. Most Rev. Mathias Fernandes blessed and laid the foundation stone for the convent building on 30^th August 1979.  Mr C.P. Kushalappa , Owner of Rice mill Ponnampet laid the foundation stone for the construction of the school building on 13^th June 1980, the feast of the patron of the convent, school and Parish.

The Convent building blessed and inaugurated on 28^th January 1981 by Most Rev. Mathias Fernandes, Mother Sylvine, the then Superior General, Sr Ann Teresa and Sr Noreen, her  Councilors graced the occasion. The construction of the new convent building was blessed by Bishop Rt. Rev. Thomas Vazapilly and inaugurated by Sr Lilitta, Provincial Superior on 27^th August 2015.
