St Martha’s Pre-University College was started on 1^st June 2006 under the leadership of Sr Trina, the first Principal with 9 staff and 35 students. The College bears the name of St Martha; a saint dear to Bethany Congregation. Every year the Institute’s Day is celebrated on 29^th July on the feast of St Martha. True to its name, it upholds the valuable traditions of the Bethany Educational Society.

College which had begun with 35 students is grown to 345 in its 11^th year of existence. Already 1650 students have benefited from this institution till date. In PU Board exam the Commerce stream has secured 100% result for the past Six years. In sports the students have won general championship at the Taluk level for the Eight years and also have participated at the District and State level. In the year 2013, Monisha Jain secured first place in Chikmagalur District with 582 marks in Commerce stream.

Sr Trina served this institution initially. From December 2007 onwards Sr Helen Rebello is the Principal, who not only strives hard to raise the standard of the institution but also pays attention to all slow learners. The Institution aims at helping every student, who passes through the portals of this College and teaches the lessons of compassion, peace and harmony, universal brotherhood and sisterhood.
 
The goal of our Education is ‘Education for fullness of life, for all’. The emphasis is given for striving for excellence, creative learning, practical thinking and co-operative leadership. The stress is on excellence, both academic and human, inspired by genuine religious and moral values, with an awareness of the prevailing social conditions and a sense of commitment to the cause of justice.

We look forward for great things to happen to this College. We hope that our students will achieve greatness by being excellent and committed to their life and work.
