The inspiration to have an institute of our own came from his Lordship Bishop Lumen Monteiro, the Bishop of Agartala. The inspiration was reflected upon in the council and the idea was taken up by the then Provincial Superior Sr. Edleburgh. A resident of Dharmanagar named Purnendu Chakraborty was the first man who repeatedly requested to open a missionary English medium school in Dharmanagar as there was only one school in the locality ‘Golden Valley’ which was not satisfying the needs of the parents as the children were unable to speak English. The first school was started on 9th January 1999 in the cement store room of Purnendu Chakraborty a rented building with Sr Gretta as the Principal and Sr. Janet and Christita were the first teacher for the little ones. K.G.I, K.G.II and Class I were started on the same day.
With his contact he set his heart and mind with the help of some positive minded people and Block authorizes to procure a piece of land in Sakaibari where the school is situated at present. During the construction of the building Purnendu offered his cement store room to make shift classrooms till the school was shifted to Sakaibari on 15thJanuary 2000.Then onwards the school saw its growth in leaps and bounds. Meanwhile the school had to face some unexpected problems. So it was shifted to Sakaibari to a bamboo shed on the 15th June 2000. The sisters built good rapport with the neighbours and especially with Mr. Jacob who always stood by the sisters and helped in the construction of the school building.
Sr Eva succeeded Sr Gretta as the Principal. During her tenure the number of students increased in the school and therefore she recruited 3 extra teachers for the school. Sr Eva left the school on 1st July 2005 and handed over the charge to Sr Cleopha. Sr Rosia and Titus too newly joined to upgrade the School. The school obtained NOC from the State Educational Department on 24th April 2006. The School was inspected by the two Inspectors appointed by ICSE Delhi on 2nd and 20th of April 2007 and finally they gave the provisional Affiliation certificate on 18th Aug 2007. So the first batch of students answered the ICSE in the year 2009. Meanwhile Sr Rosia took over the responsibility of the Provincial Superior on 14th July 2008 and undertook developmental works like the extension of playground, cycle shed, extra computers, new gate of the school, painting of the roof or the existing first block etc.
Sr. Leena Miranda succeeded Sr Rosia as the 5th Principal of the school. She carried on the development works like completion of Convent hostel building, tiles for girls’ hostel toilets, Teach Next, Smart Class rooms, TV for KG Ito CL I Rooms, toilets for Office Room, Staff Room, Divisions of classes into Sections from class I to VI in order to impart good education to the students. On 3rd June 2015 Sr, Leena Miranda was transferred and Sr. Amritha took over as the Principal. Under her leadership a lot of activities are planned during the year. Day with God for staff and students is arranged. Service Week is organized to reach out to the abandoned elderly and orphans. Students are given chances to bring out their potentialities through cultural competitions, Sports Week is organized. May this institution continue to bloom amidst struggles and bear fruit that lasts!
