Western Province

The establishment of Loyola High School, Gadag is a natural growth of Loyola Convent English Medium Higher Primary school. It started in 1968 with one English medium section consisting of 34 students. In 1969 one Kannada medium section was started at the request of local people as the parochial Kannada medium school was only up to VII Std. In 1973 one more English medium section was started as the students grew in number. The school is registered according to the Karnataka Education Act 1983 (Karnataka Act No.1 of 1995). The school is permanently recognised by the government of Karnataka as per No. PS/CPI/396/85 Dated: 27/11/1995. The school management is “Bethany Education Society, Mangalore”, Dakshina Kannada, Society Registration No. Act XXI of 1860 No. 17 of 1948 – 49.

The School was aided by the Government of Karnataka on 15.04.1971. The curriculum of the Karnataka Directorate of Education is followed and the students are prepared for State Board Examination. There are 9 sections at present – 6 English medium sections and 3 Kannada medium sections from Std. VIII to X. The strength of the school is 767 during the academic year 2016 – 17 consisting of both boys and girls. The school has grown to its present status because of the dynamic leadership, unstinted labour and foresight of the Headmistresses and the efficient staff over the years.

Currently Sr Neena is the Headmistress and Sr Divya is the Correspondent under whose leadership the Staff moves on. The school has well qualified faculty both teaching, non-teaching as well as computer instructors who equip students with adequate knowledge and life skills.

The students are given all-round formation. Moral and Spiritual development is promoted through the school assemblies, Dyana and Moral science classes. Through the activities of various clubs awareness is created regarding protection of Human Rights, prevention of HIV and other prevalent diseases.  Bethany Educational Society vision and core values are exhibited in each classroom. On the foundation day life of Fr Founder and founding members is highlighted and enacted. Students are made to memorise B.E.S. core values. While conducting annual retreat these values are highlighted. A day’s retreat is conducted every year for the students and the staff. Bethany Champions are promoted. ‘Loyola’ is the top scorer of the district in SSLC exam every year. The students of Loyola have adorned places of repute in the society both at the national and international level.  Some of them have even served as scientists in ISRO.

Management has left no stone unturned to provide quality education to the students. As a result Loyola is always sought after for admissions by the rich, the middle class and the poor.  The school is a great boon to the people of Gadag.
