Jan 23 : The Bethany Educational Society (BES) Western Province, Dharwad, successfully organized its Third BES Convention on November 18, 2024, at Presentation Convent School, Dharwad, and on November 20, 2024, at Loyola High School, Gadag. The event attracted an impressive 500 educators from various BES institutions across the province. The convention began with a heartfelt worship service and a tribute to Servant of God, Raymond Francis Camilus Mascarenhas, acknowledging his profound contributions to education and society.
The convention was officially inaugurated by Sr Shanti Priya, Assistant Superior General and Vice President of BES, alongside Sr Sally, Corporate Manager of Western Province. The ceremonial release of a pigeon symbolized peace and unity, followed by the lighting of a diya and the garlanding of Father Founder’s photo by the dignitaries. In her keynote address, Sr Sally emphasized the vision, goals, and core values that define the role of Bethany teachers in shaping an inclusive and progressive society.
The programme featured four insightful sessions led by distinguished speakers. Sr Shanthi Priya BS, lauding Fr Founder as a ‘Visionary and Educationalist,’ underscored his lifelong commitment to making education accessible to all, especially the marginalized. Her session on ‘Upholding Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity’ inspired all to uphold these values in their daily lives. Sr Assumpta BS focused on ‘Promoting Peace and Harmony,’ encouraging educators to instill peace within themselves and their students. Sr Shalet Mendonca BS highlighted the critical need to address climate change in her session on ‘Caring for Mother Earth,’ urging everyone to become stewards of the environment. The final session on ‘Education for Excellence and Self-Reliance,’ presented by Mr Dayanand RH, Mr Basavaraj, and Mr Francis, stressed the importance of teaching techniques, collaboration, and the role of education in fostering self-reliance and societal development. The participants left with a deeper sense of community and a renewed commitment to the values that bind the BES family together.
