Sep 26: The Prison Ministry of India and the Central Prison, Dharwad, came together to celebrate International Prisoner’s Day in the Central Prison of Dharwad. Mrs Arundhati Savadatti, Lecturer, B.Ed and Degree College, Mumbai was the Chief Guest and along with her, we had the distinguished guests: Sr Assumpta, the Provincial Superior of Bethany Sisters, Dharwad, Sr Prima, Principal, Presentation PU. College, Dharwad and Sr Irene D’Silva, Superior, Capitanio Convent, Hubli. The Superintendent of Prison Dr I.G. Myageri presided over the function.
The programme began with a prayer dance put up by the students of Presentation High School. Sr Sally, welcomed the guests followed by the cultural programme put up by the students of Presentation High School and PU College. Thereafter the chief guests addressed the audience.
In his speech, the Superintendent, Dr I.G. Myageri, thanked the organizers of the programme for the Prisoners. He said that, the management trains and prepares the prisoners to improve their quality of life in order to become pillars of strength in the society once they are released from the prison.
